Working in Newcastle City Centre I’m always on the lookout for somewhere quick and easy to grab a bite to eat in my lunch break (when I’m not organised enough to prep food at home to bring in). I usually opt for something to takeaway so I can eat at my desk. Feeling a bit bored of the usual sandwiches and panini’s I went to The Naked Deli which opened a few months ago at the top of Grey Street. There was a fridge with a range of sandwiches, wraps, juices and mouth watering ‘naked treats’. I was tempted with the deli salad bar but there was so much choice and the Halloumi with Naked Rub wrap caught my eye. I can’t resist anything with halloumi in it!

After ordering to takeaway I was given a number and told it would be brought out to me. Unfortunately my order got mixed up so I was brought the wrong wrap and the customer service wasn’t great after that, no communication and I had to chase my order up again. I finally got it after about a 20 minute wait, not great when you just pop out for a quick lunch.
I took it back to the office and as soon as I started eating it my previous frustrations disappeared. The food speaks for itself – it tastes fresh and the flavours of the halloumi, naked rub (what is that?!), and creamy avocado just work so well together.
Would I go back? Yes, the food is top quality and there’s a lot more on the menu I want to try. Everyone can have a bad day service wise so I wouldn’t hold that against them. I wouldn’t make it a regular lunch stop though, at £5.45 it would have to be an occasional treat.
